Industrial Releases in Canada
Protect Health
Preserve Environment
Safeguard Resources
Take Actions Together
Analyzing Canada's industrial pollution, we did what every researchers must do:
faced the data head-on.

In 2023, 7,579 facilities in Canada reported 4.99 million tonnes of emissions to the NPRI, covering over 300 substances
Of these emissions, 2.82 million tonnes were directly released into Canada’s air, water, and land
1.75 million tonnes were disposed of through landfilling, tailings management, waste rock handling, or underground injection, either on-site or off-site
397,889 tonnes were transferred off-site for treatment before final disposal, recycling, or energy recovery
It's all about the community
Industrial pollution doesn’t recognize boundaries, but neither does the strength of a united community. Protecting our shared resources ensures not only a healthier environment but a better future for everyone.
"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it." says Robert Swan.
We are hoping to empower policymakers and data analysts to identify pollution hotspots, evaluate policy effectiveness, and take decisive actions to protect public health and the environment.
